- James Moore (What Cheer, IA) – Lead Guitar/Vocals…
2003 Iowa Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Inductee
I started the Sundown III band in the early 80’s. At that time band members
included myself on guitar, Alan Adams on drums and George Mickens on bass. Other previous band members include: Pat
Newmiller (bass), Tom Pickett (Drums), Gary Chipman (bass) and Art Chipman (Drums). We played at several of the night
clubs, bars, and private parties in S.E. Iowa.
I have 50 years experience
of playing guitar in bands. I have formed and played in several bands in S.E. Iowa including the first one called The
Rock N’ Flames which was formed in 1957. The Rock N' Flames are 2003 inductees into the Iowa Rock N’ Roll Music Associations Hall of Fame
at Arnolds Park, IA. We played in all the ballrooms in Iowa and other venues in surrounding states and opened for such national acts
as Sue Thompson, Ray Charles, Conway Twitty, Bobby Vee, Jerry Lee Lewis, Buddy Holly, Bobby Bare and many others. After
that I formed a band called the JRJ’s, and now the Sundown III. We still play at several venues around S.E. Iowa.
I sing many songs, to many to mention,
but some of the songs I sing include: Tobey Keith tunes, Desperado, Take it Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Good Ol’ Boys,
Born to be wild, Sweet Home Alabama, Steamroller Blues plus 50's and 60's music, yes you cant forget the good ol' times.
